Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Take time today to thank the Lord for his ultimate example of leadership through serving and sacrifice. Think about it, the Creator of all things washed the feet He created. He became a human being and allowed his creation to mock, reject, and kill Him. And did it so that He could save the very humans that spit in his face. What a challenge for us!
Pray that the Lord would produce in us humble, servant hearts. Pray that we would think first of serving others rather than ourselves. Confess areas of selfishness and pride, where you have sought position, power, or prestige over serving others.
Pray for Dustin and the church leadership, that we would be known as servants first. That Cornerstone Murphy would be always known as a church of servants.
Ask His Spirit to humble you and give you a servants heart towards everyone you will encounter this week.
