30 Days of Prayer Day 5: Extravagant Love: Psalm 103:6-17

Day 5

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:35-38

Take time today to thank The Lord for His unfailing, unending, unfathomable love. Think for a moment about the depths of your sin and brokenness. Not just the wrong things you “do” but your manipulative heart, your selfish motives, and the thoughts and feelings that you have that no one else knows about. None of that escapes Him. Everything is naked and exposed before Him.

But He is not put off by our sin. He does not punish us as we deserve. No, he is compassionate and slow to get angry. And through Jesus he has justly punished our sin by placing it upon His own son and unleashing all of His wrath upon Him, instead of you and I. Because of Jesus, you and I are free to be loved and to love. Confess your sin and celebrate that He faithfully forgives us and cleanses us. Thank Him! Praise Him! Worship Him!

Ask His Spirit to give you His Love for others. That you could love other with the extravagant love He shows you.
