Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
— Hebrews 10:23-25

WHAT TO EXPECT AT CORNERSTONE

We know that visiting a new church can be uncomfortable, but here’s what you can expect at Cornerstone

EXPECT TO ENCOUNTER GOD:

God is intimately engaged with humanity. He wants us to know Him and experience His love and grace. It's not about trying to prove ourselves to Him or one another, but embracing all that He has done for us in Christ. We gather to celebrate and experience God's presence as He changes us through prayer, study of His Word and worship.

EXPECT FREEDOM TO BE YOURSELF:

None of us have it all figured out! Cornerstone is a safe place to wrestle with all the messiness that life brings. No matter how far you feel from God, how many doubts or hurts, we know that all of us come to Him on equal footing... broken and in need of His grace, healing, and power.

EXPECT TO BE LOVED LIKE FAMILY:

The church is an identity to be cherished more than a service to attend. Fullness of life is found when we are interwoven into the fabric of a church family where we live in authentic relationship with God and with one another. We love as a family, struggle together as a family and serve one another as a family.

Church Rhythms

We believe that at it's essence the church is people. A family committed to following Jesus, loving each other, and sharing the Gospel with the world. We see an amazing beauty in the simplicity of this and want all of our life rhythms, both formal and informal, to lead us towards these things. As a church family we devote ourselves to these three primary environments.

SUNDAY GATHERINGS @ 10am

Our current Sunday rhythms may seem a little different than what you may have experienced in church before, but they are designed to help us remain healthy and engaged as a church family. We generally meet in homes the first three Sunday’s of the month. Our Celebration Sunday’s are the last Sunday of the month at Murphy Middle School

IN HOME SUNDAY’S

These services look in essence like any other Sunday church service you have been to except, we meet in a home. We will pray, sing songs of worship together, be taught from the bible, and enjoy time together as a church family. We have a full kids ministry and nursery team that will lead our kids through time of learning from the bible, games and crafts.

CELEBRATION SUNDAY’S

The last Sunday of the month we gather all together at Murphy Middle School to celebrate Jesus and all that He is doing in us and through us as a church family. These Gatherings will look and feel like a “typical” church service. Like in our home gatherings we will pray, sing songs of worship together, be taught from the bible, and enjoy time together as a church family. These gatherings are also designed to invite our friends, neighbors to come check out Cornerstone.

Gospel Communities

Life.Together.

Gospel Communities are at the heart of how we grow as a family. These groups are designed to help us build rhythms into our life beyond a Sunday service where we can grow together, laugh together, and celebrate all that God is doing in and through us. We also know that God has placed us together not only for our own sake but to love and serve our community. We want to be faithful to seek out opportunities to serve and share God's love in Murphy and the surrounding communities. Gospel Communities gather monthly in homes throughout the Murphy/Sachse/Wylie area:

Key Rhythms

Gathering for Meals: A significant part of growing together is unhurried time together as a family. We want to create intentional times where we sit together over a good meal and enjoy laughing and sharing life.

Share your Story: Learning to share your story in light of God's story of redemption is an essential part of growing in and sharing your faith. We want to take time to hear from one another how the Gospel is changing and shaping us.

Prayer: There is power in a group of people united in prayer, asking The Lord to move in the lives of people we know and love. Jesus is the author of salvation and we want to boldly come to Him asking for the salvation of those who don't yet know Him.

Together on Mission: The Apostle Paul encouraged the church at Colosse to "make the most of every opportunity." We want to live intentionally, knowing that many of the people we interact with every day do not know the love of The Father and the grace of Jesus. Each group will seek opportunities to bring GOSPEL RENEWAL to our community through serving, sacrificing, and sharing The Gospel.  .

D.N.A Groups

D.N.A. groups are at the heart of how we make disciples of Jesus here at Cornerstone. Born from our Gospel Communities, these groups consist of 3 to 6 adults (gender specific) who meet three times a month to challenge and encourage one another as we learn to follow Jesus together.

D.iscover

When we gather we want to DISCOVER what the Word says and how it shapes our view of who God is, what He has done in Christ, who we are in Him, and how we need to think, believe, and act differently. Led by His Spirit, we are devoted to studying The Scripture together and letting the Gospel re-shape us.

N.urture

As The Spirit reveals our area's of unbelief and sin, we want to confess to The Lord and to one another, turn from these lies and believe the Truth of The Gospel. We want to NURTURE the truth of God's love and grace found in Christ to one another and pray for each other that God would continue to mold us in His image.

A.CT

We want to respond to The Spirit's conviction and God's grace by pursuing obedience to Him, not out of a sense of obligation or to earn his love, but out of delight in the truth that God's love for us is because of all that Christ has done. We want to spur one another on towards love and good works as we seek to surrender to and follow Jesus in every area of our life.
